For more than 15 years Michael Victory has been delving into sound, it's creation, composition and qualities. From raw synthesis, to editing and mix engineering Open can provide you with most things audio. Need a seamless loop from your favorite song? Coming from a visual background in an absolute absence of technology Michael has used whatever tools were around to create. He’s largely self-taught, and has discovered that the process of trial and error can lead to “happy accidents”. With over a dozen musical releases, ranging from experimental, through industrial, IDM, and deep tech-house, he’s changed genres regularly while always maintaining a consistent feel. He has a down to earth character, and it comes through in his works. Michael says: “I feel that a good work of art should serve its purpose and be an innovation, but one should not come at the cost of the other” and explains, “If I make an ambient track, I want to stay practical and ensure the song relaxes the listener. This may sound simple, and that’s because it is! With technology today there are so many choices to make and avenues to go down, creatively speaking. I think it’s important to limit the ‘palette’ purposefully sometimes to avoid ‘option anxiety’ – limitations can liberate you.” This minimalist approach not only results in clean works of art, but also opens them up for an interpretability that Victory encourages.
